🤔How to be more confident in French?
Well, that’s a great question 😃
I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and here are my keys takeaways:
🗣️Speak
A simple one on the surface, but stick with me
Are you speaking yet? Are you holding off until it feels right? Until you have enough vocab?
Speaking French is the only way to get better at speaking French
So, to reach your dream of being a confident French speaker, the sooner you start, the sooner you'll get there!
☑️But try to find the right people
Make sure you're speaking in an environment with patient people who encourage you and help you reach fluency
😉Don’t worry about mistakes
Worrying about making mistakes, mispronouncing words, or getting blocked mid-sentence only holds you back from your path to fluency.
It's those that truly accept that it's GOING to happen that make progress WAY SOONER
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
🔑Patience is key
Hey, let’s be honest with you!
You can't go from beginner to fluent overnight. Trust the process (and more importantly, enjoy the process)
🌙Set goals
French is a marathon, not a sprint.
There are a lot of ups and downs, but that’s okay😃
It's essential for your motivation that you have topics planned out for the week and month to come that you want to learn to speak about
❤️Happy Valentine’s Day
February 14th is Valentine’s day in France: the day for love and people in love (for everybody
In French, we call it “La Saint Valentin” (yeah, it’s “la” even if “Saint Valentin” is masculine😂)
Valentine’s day in France is celebrated a bit like it is in the rest of the world – chocolates, roses, jewels for the wealthiest… a romantic restaurant
Sometimes a card, but much less than in English cultures…
Look at what I’ve found this morning in my favorite supermarket👇
I bought the “éclair au chocolat avec écrit LOVE dessus”, which was quite good (didn’t have enough patience to wait for the 14th)
📖This newsletter is about French, so let’s learn some French vocabulary together
L’amour = Love
Je t’aime = I love you
Je suis amoureux / amoureuse de toi, lui, elle, vous… = I am in love with you, him, her, you
Est-ce que tu veux sortir avec moi = Would you like to go out with me?
Embrasser, s’embrasser = To kiss
WATCH OUT !!! Not “baiser”… I’m sorry to be vulgar but you need to be aware that “un baiser” is fine, it’s a kiss, but “baiser” as a verb nowadays means to f..k
That's a wrap for today!
Stay thirsty & see ya next Sunday🥰
