Learning French is NOT difficult! That's fun :)
Hello hello tout le monde😃
I hope your French is better than my English accent, otherwise this is going to be très embarrassing!
Tout va bien ?
This is French Teacher Carlito, the French guy that checks up on all your French injuries & motivates you to keep going😉
Before I begin, I wanted to apologize for last week.
The newsletter didn't send out properly and some of you didn't get your dose of French...
Sorry about that.
And HELLO to the newcomers, it's great to see that the community is growing!
Here’s what we've got today:

❓French Q&A
When it functions properly, a community can be a really powerful way for people to learn something new.
Especially a new language… Like French😉
I place great importance on teaching French by asking you what you need.
From now on, I will always ask you what you want to learn before sending you this newsletter.
Today, I'm going to answer 3 questions I received yesterday:
1. “How to ask for directions”
That’s a great question!
Merci.
Asking for directions in French is an important skill to have when traveling in France.
Here are some key phrases to help you get started:
Excusez-moi, pourriez-vous m'indiquer le chemin pour aller à + (insert destination)?
Excuse me, could you please tell me the way to go to + (insert destination)?
This is a polite way to ask for directions.
Remember to use "vous" (formal "you") when talking to strangers or people who are older than you.
If you're talking to someone who is around your age, you can use "tu" (informal "you").
Je suis perdu(e), pouvez-vous m'aider à trouver + (insert destination)?
I'm lost, could you help me find + (insert destination)?
If you're really lost and need more help than just directions, you can use this phrase to ask for assistance.
People are generally happy to help tourists find their way around (Yes, even in Paris. At least, I do🙂)
Où se trouve + (insert destination), s'il vous plaît?
Where is + (insert destination), please?
This is a straightforward way to ask where a specific place is.
Make sure to use "s'il vous plaît" (please) to be polite.
Comment puis-je arriver à + (insert destination) depuis ici?
How can I get to + (insert destination) from here?
If you're not sure which direction to go, you can use this phrase to ask for more specific instructions.
Est-ce que c'est loin d'ici?
Is it far from here?
If you're not sure how long it will take to get to your destination, you can use this phrase to ask about the distance.
Remember to thank people for their help by saying "merci beaucoup" (thank you very much) or "je vous remercie" (I thank you)🙏🏻

2. “About you”
Well, I don’t know what to tell you… But let’s introduce myself in French!
3. “Les expressions de communication en Français”
Hmmmm, I don't think I understood the question...
Anyway, I won't have the space to do another lesson in this edition.
💡Debunking some Myths
Myth: Only kids are good at learning languages.
Reality: Yes, kids have a natural advantage when it comes to learning languages.
BUT let's not forget that they have the luxury of being in a completely immersed environment.
They spend up to sixteen hours a day listening to and speaking the language.
Meanwhile, most of us adults have work, errands, and other responsibilities that take up a good chunk of our day.
However, that doesn't mean YOU can't learn a language just as well as a kid.
We have our own advantages!
For starters, we already have a wider vocabulary to work with.
We don't have to learn what a "shoe" is, we just need to know how to say it in another language.
Plus, we choose to learn a language, so we're naturally more motivated.
We have more intentional learning opportunities available to us, like travel, online tutors, language meetups, and more.
So don't let age be an excuse.
Sure, kids make language learning look easy, but they also throw tantrums and have to take naps in the middle of their lessons.
We adults can learn just as well, if not better, if we put in the time and effort.
🥐At the bakery
J’aime aller à la boulangerie. C’est mon petit “péché mignon”.
And I like to watch Youtube videos to learn more about how bread is made, how a bakery works...
In short, to know more about the person who brings me so much joy when I come back from a tiring sport session.
So here is a nice video you should watch to practice your comprehension of French🙂
Once you have watched the video, take this short quiz to make sure you have understood everything😉
